Hmm, yes technically he can be traced.. It's just a matter of analyzing server logs.

Once they have the IP - they for sure know the ISP.

Then cyber cell will ask ISP to tell to which geographic location the IP belongs - and it's done - they can get the actual subscriber details including the address.

BUT -

Is this a legal issue? By far, I haven't heard one news where a person was arrested for hacking a community. And if Orkut files a case, it cannot a file case for deletion of Standford University - it has to go to US law for that which has no effect in India.

I've been through Orkut's rules. I can't find anything where it says what he did was wrong by Orkut's rules let alone the law of the land.

But they will probably delete him or ban his IP (if that is possible, i dont know) and most likely come after OUG more aggressively.

Can't find where he broke a rule directly. Indirectly he HAS broken a lot of implied rules, but i dont think they prosecute hackers for causing havok on free online portals
